WINGS MRS (Medical Relief Services) "Project Raphael" Project Raphael, named for the "Angel of Healing" is a fitting name for WINGS CRS's Medical Operations and is the second mission objective of WINGS CRS. The simple fact is that disasters do not occur every every month, so WINGS will continually act in good stewardship of its assets to provide state of the art medical services to impoverished communities throughout the nine global regions WINGS will operate in. By actively engaging in medical missions, this will keep the WINGS CRS teams in ready condition to respond to disaster relief and provide a vitally important mission of providing health care to the poor, thus helping foster self sustainability for the disadvantaged in each region we will serve. Project Raphael - Caribbean Project Raphael - Caribbean will serve as our first of 9 regional medical missions projects, providing a working model for the global project. Project Raphael-Caribbean will be based at Vernam Airfield in Jamaica, providing a central staging point to reach all the Caribbean nations. The Facility
Vernam Airfield is located in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica which is now an abandoned US Lend Lease base built prior to WWII era, and recently secured by the Jamaican Defense Force. WINGS CRS and its Project Raphael-Caribbean will be working with the firm Airport Development International, the Jamaican government and the Save Jamaica Development Board to develop both Vernam Field the WINGS mission at the airfield, which will pave the way to bring much needed economic growth to the area. Currently Vernam Airfield has no useable runway. The Vernam Airfield Development Project will add an initial 10,000-11,000 foot runway and adjoining taxi ways. This new runway will have the capacity to handle the largest aircraft including the Antonov AN-124, Antonov AN-225 and the Airbus A-380. In our development plan for the airfield we will fully implement green technologies to enhance and preserve the environment and to bring self-sustainability for the project. The development includes the construction of several hurricane proof aircraft hangers, warehousing, a 100 bed hospital and offices and homes for the team and their families. Once Vernam air field is developed, it will provide a new airport to foster thousands of new critically needed jobs for Jamaica by offering a facility for cargo carriers, maintenance and logistics companies. Continued Global Development Project Raphael-South America, is proposed to be established at the Santos, Brasil airport in 2008-2009. At the Santos airport, WINGS CRS plans to develop entire new operations facilities, extend and add additional runways and taxiways, and provide housing for the team. The South American team will overlap its operation to support the Caribbean team when required. Other Raphael operations will be established within all of the 9 operating regions around the populated globe. |
